Designo Patagonia

Industrial designers Manu Rapoport and Martín Sabattini from Designo Patagonia are making products with local materials and craftsmanship that is culturally relevant. The Matero stool on Martín’s head is for sitting low and chatting while sipping maté, an everyday social ritual in Argentina. This is bringing design home, not the mass produced and bland ‘making people stupid’ kind of design shipped globally from the cheapest labour source.

Though thoughtfully bringing design home physically and culturally, Designo Patagonia is still part of the global discussion on design and sustainability via the internet and international exhibitions. The world is interested – listen to the excellent interview with Manu from Trust Design.
